BUG LIFE

Bug life is a charity which undertakes various fantastic initiatives to encourage us all to be more aware with bees and all insects. Read more about ‘B lines’ which creates linked ‘highway’ for bees and pollinators around the UK which we can all enjoy and appreciate.

B-Lines are an imaginative and beautiful solution to the problem of the loss of flowers and pollinators in the UK. The B-Lines are a series of ‘insect pathways’ running through our countryside and towns, restoring and creating a series of wildflower-rich habitat stepping stones. They link existing wildlife areas together, creating a network, like a railway, that will weave across the British landscape. This will provide large areas of brand new habitat benefiting bees and butterflies– but also a host of other wildlife.

Imagine trying to travel around Britain without our road and rail network. Or imagine if nine out of every ten miles of road just didn’t exist – life would be impossible! Well for much of our wildlife this is the reality - it is confined to tiny fragments of habitat and unable to move across the countryside as our climate and landscape rapidly changes. It has been predicted that 40-70% of species could go extinct if action is not taken to enable species to move through the landscape. Source B lines Bug life

FRIENDS OF THE EARTH

In 2000, Friends of the Earth started campaigning for a new recycling bill which would mean every household in the country would have a doorstep recycling service . The bill would mean that by 2010, local authorities would have to provide every household in England with a separate collection of at least two types of recyclable materials. This has now become the norm thanks to Friends of the Earth and Oakdale supports their current amazing and much needed campaigns to save the bees and reduce plastic waste.
