Oakdale Bees manufacture their wraps from two cotton fabric suppliers - The 100% cotton range comes in natural fibers from a lovely northern family business who we enjoy working with and have done now for a number of years. 
 
The demand for organic cotton is (rightly) growing so we researched numerous manufacturers typically based in China and India. Whilst the quality of the fabric is paramount it was also very important for us to understand the ethics behind the company that we working with and we are delighted to have formed a partnership with A&A Eco Products and below is a little more about this company and their certifications. 
 
A&A Eco Products is a family owned business working exclusively with organic and recycled fabrics. They have in recent years become recognised as one of the most innovative independent Eco fabric stockiests. 
 
Staff Ethos Recognition and Rewards 
They reward their employees with fair wages at all levels and all get a production incentive, a yearly bonus, holidays on Diwali festival which depending on the turnover is 1 or 2 months salary and gifts for family. They do not do double shifts or night shifts. The staff get regular timed breaks and paid holiday including days off. The staff are provided with medical insurance provided + scholarships are staffs kids sports or school fees. 
 
Working Conditions 
Workshop are cooled with air coolers and surrounded by garden and farmland. Organic vegetable nursery is there and the produce is distributed among everyone. Lots of sunlight! and free jaggery for everyone. Jaggery naturally reduces respiratory issues which may arise due to thread cutting etc Also we they do not do chemical spot cleaning or any detergent washing. Soapnut is used with fresh water if at all and Air drying is done so very safe environment for all of us. Aiming to be 100% Solar powered factory shortly. 
 
Certification 
A&A works under the Max Havelaar and GOTS Fair Trade guidelines and independently supports 4 NGO’s working extensively for wild life conservation, disabled care and girl child education. A&A work with a large rooster of clients and have had a retention rate of more than 75%.
